Valenzuelanos, lead by Mayor WES Gatchalian commemorate the birth anniversary of the nation’s hero and Valenzuela City’s namesake through the traditional wreathlaying ceremony, July 11.  This year, it was held before his monument in front of the Valenzuela City Metropolitan Trial Court building.  The building was once the Municipal Hall of the City built in the 1960s, boasting the oldest monument of Dr. Pio.  This statue will be transferred soon to the reconstructed home of the hero at Pariancillo Villa, Valenzuela City.  Valenzuela was one of the Triumvirate of the Katipunan along with Emilio Jacinto and Andres Bonifacio.  He was also the first alcalde or mayor of the old town of Polo, now Valenzuela City.  This year marks his 153^rd Birth Anniversary.

City Mayor WES Gatchalian pays tribute before the monument of Dr. Pio Valenzuela located at the façade of the Valenzuela City Metropolitan Trial Court building, July 11. Dr Pio Valenzuela Monument will be transferred to its original home in Brarangay Pariancillo Villa. The house turned Museum serves to be a spot remembering the history of Valenzuela and the contribution he has done for the city and for the country.
